Dear Friend,
Last week I began the E-Letter by telling you that I
was going to write about two more amazing kids God
has given me, yet, I only wrote about one, Jared;
today, I want to write about that other young person
God has blessed our ministry named Cassie.
I met Cassie the first night I opened my home to
some young people who had lived a very hard life and
were on fire for Christ, yet had not found a safe
place where they could come clean about their past
and find expression for their passion. Angie had
invited Cassie to come with her to our meeting; that
night Cassie came clean with the group. Her story
is an amazing tale of God's love and redemptive
power. It is a story of a hard lived life of drugs,
sex and abuse. But, most important, is a story of
how once again Jesus reached out to those society
considers unlovable and loved them into the kingdom.
Cassie came to my office the next day, and like
Angie and James, she believes that God has called
her to work with Coming Clean Ministries. She
believes that with our Lord, Jesus Christ, she has
the power to change the world for Him. Who was I to
argue with God? If He has called her, I needed to
get out of the way. My role is to lead her, guide
her, and empower her to do what our Lord, Jesus
Christ, not Jorge, has called her to do.
Cassie's heart is to work in the area of substance
abuse. She is a recovering addict who went through
treatment and then worked at a rehab facility for
almost two years. She has extensive first hand
knowledge in the field of substance abuse. Coupled
with my heart to create a center with an evangelical
voice to educate America that drugs are bad for you,
and we immediately felt in our spirit to go forth.
My friend, everyone that uses drugs knows that
drugs are bad for you, but how do we become
pro-active and not reactive as it relates to
substance abuse. We want to educate America as to
what makes people do drugs and how to identify the
signs as well as what to do if someone we love falls
to drugs. We want to implement a plan to help
teenagers stop smoking-what believe is the gate way
other drugs that leads to narcotics.
There are many treatment facilities in America, but
in reality most of them are nothing but an exotic
vacation for addicts. Coming Clean Ministries wants
to be the conservative resource that identifies
those centers that are having high success rates and
what it takes to get someone in them. Coming Clean
Ministries is convinced that with Christ and your
help we will win the war on drugs, not by catching
all the bad guys, but by creating programs, which
will enable our kids to make the right choices when
they are faced with, to use or not to use drugs.
Cassie has a passion to see other young people not
fall into the world she fell into. She is
passionate, and intelligent, but above all she is in
love with Jesus. As Cassie and I work together to
educate America that the drug problem is not a youth
problem, is not a government problem, is not a
church problem, and is not a parent problem but a
nation's problem. Washington will not ever win the
war on drugs, yet we will go on spending billions
and continue to see thousands of our kids die.
Coming Clean Ministries, you, and our Lord Jesus
Christ will win this war. We will not allow Satan
to continue to rob families of their children, their
fathers, and their mothers. Pray for Cassie and
praise God for giving her to you.
God bless you,
Jorge
